Dr. Jake McCrowell, PT, DPT, CMTPT earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Old Dominion University in 2010, after excelling in both the classroom and practical realms of his educational experience. He graduated with honors upon completing diverse and challenging clinical internships with a sports medicine emphasis. Here, he absorbed invaluable clinical skills from experienced and gifted clinicians. Additionally, he earned his B.S in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise with an emphasis on Exercise Promotion from Virginia Tech, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. McCrowell has been persistent at reviewing current evidence based research and attending multiple continued education courses to implement the best possible care for his patients. He has performed functional movement screens on athletes from all levels, including the professional athlete. Further, Dr. McCrowell has lectured at several professional seminars to therapist and medial doctors regarding movement assessment and interventions for the athlete. He also adjuncts for the ODU school of physical therapy.Dr. McCrowell is certified in manual trigger point therapy with Therapeutic Dry Needling (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars. He is also certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) through Functional Movement Systems. Additionally, he has been an avid triathlete, Crossfit athlete, and half-marathon participant for several years, applying his knowledge in related fields to enhance his own performance and that of his peers.  Dr. McCrowell is co-owner of Direct Performance Physical Therapy, an outpatient private practice that prides itself on 1-on-1 care and boasts a ~90% Direct Access referral system
